Once you get an iPhone, the possibilities are unlimited. Even the person, who never used to using an iPhone features, get drawn towards the unlimited apps it offers. iPhone among all could be a complete mobile office solution with option to receive voice mail and faxes on the go. There are various services available that allows you to manage your voice mail better and offers ability to READ the voice mail instead to dialing in to read the messages.

Google Voice. It is a free service from Google which gives you a phone number (which is free at present). All you have to do is register. Once registered, you can set-up your current phone number’s voice mail through it. It is really easy to do. Instructions on the Google Voice site are very nice. Once Google voice is setup for your iPhone number, all the unanswered calls gets routed to Google Voice where it takes the voice message and then stores it for you in you account. You also gets option to either receive a text message whenever you have a voice mail OR have the complete voice mail TRANSCRIBED and send to you as TEXT or EMAIL so that you can READ your voice mail. The transcription however is not great when the person speaking have an accent or not speaking clearly. But you can always listen your messages with click of a button the phone itself.

Read more about the GOOGLE Voice and its features at www.google.com/voice.
Fusion Voice Mail plus. With Fusion voice mail plus, you can see, hear or read your voicemail messages with just touch of a button. No more dialing multiple phone numbers, no more remembering multiple passwords. You just register your iPhone number with them (Free). Each time a caller leaves a voicemail, an SMS message is forwarded to your mobile phone, a tone is played and information displays on your handset screen — including the date and time of the voicemail as well as the caller’s information. To make life easy, Fusion Voicemail Plus lets you easily scroll through the list and select the voicemails you want to hear or read in the order of your choice. With the tap a button, you can select, listen to, call back, send a text message and delete voicemails as desired. The transcription is little better here than Google Voice. You also have an option to receive FAX on your iPhone for as low $2 for unlimited faxes.

Anyone who has attended a medical school, have read Netter’s Anatomy textbook. Now we have the same pictures available on iPhone in an interactive format. This study aid developed by Modality Inc. had about 210 cards. The pictures are very sharp and clear. You also have an option to zoom in and out. It allows you to “flip” the image over to review concise text on areas of origin, insertion, action, innervation, anatomical relevance, and clinical significance.

You can browse the pictures by selecting the Body section. It then given you option to select Bony anatomy, Radiographic anatomy, Ligaments, Muscles, Arteries, Nerves, Physical axamination and Conditions. Once a card is opened, you have an option to simply click on each “Pin” and see the answer OR select the Quiz mode and test yourself. It will then ask to identify certain part and if you get it write, you will get green signal and if you get it wrong, you will get red signal with option to try again.

Another great feature on each card is that when you select a pin, it will first display the name associated with pinned item. After that when you click on the displayed name, it will tell you that on which other cards this particular structure appears in and also an option to search Google for this particular structure.

You also have an option to bookmark certain cards for furture quick reference under bookmarks.

This app should be not be considered as alternative to Netter’s Textbook because it is not as detailed but it is an excellent study tool. It is still very comprehensive and will definitely replace any Anatomy Flash Cards.
Requirements: Compatible with iPhone and iPod touch. Requires iPhone OS 2.0 or later
Cost: $39.99

Overall the app is very detailed and covers a wide variety of OMM topics and related information. It serves as a very good app for quick review.

It would be helpful to use less abbreviations as at times the app appears more to be a student’s individual study notes more than a review for other students, residents or practicing physicians. Also, there should be some improved editing to check for spelling and grammar mistakes. Lastly, it would be better terminology to change what the authors review as counterstrain under the assessment section to tenderpoints. Counterstrain is a technique, not a diagnostic finding.

While this app also misses body areas, sympathetic viscerosomatic dysfunctions, and helpful ways for integrating OMM into clinical assessment and treatment for a patient, it still is an overall
effective site a decent reference for most students or osteopathic physicians.

It is designed for iPhone and iPod Touch. When the time comes for you to wake up, it start increasing the light in your room slowly (as if daylight is coming) and then your music of choice from iPhone or iPod touch starts playing. Amazing experience!!!

It comes in two styles:

Philips HF3480 Wake-up Light

Only difference between the two style is the second one has Dock where your iPhone or iPod Touch gets charged as well.

The Wake-up light wakes you up in a natural way, by light that increases gradually. From now on waking up will be a pleasant experience. You can also wake up with your favorite music by simply selecting the tunes from your iPod or iPhone.

We now have so many apps that now we have difficult time choosing which one we should have on our iPhone or iPod touch. The following Five apps are very important for all medical professionals who are seeing patients. These apps serve the most common information needs of a clinician.

This application has evolved a lot since it started. It not only provides most up-to-date drug information but it also provides information on diagnostic test, symptoms, diseases and antibiotic guide. The Fee Rx app is good but the Epocrates Essentials offers a lot more.
It is an app for practicing physician and healthcare professionals who needs to look up ICD-9 codes during billing process. Now you have this search capability as well as option to look up frequently searched codes right in this small app. This app will not only allow you to search the ICD-9 codes but allows you to bookmark the frequently searched codes in your favorite for quick reference later.
It depends on their age and weight. We know what dose is recommended for what age and weight size but the formulations of those drugs are extensive. After selecting the formulation (x mg/5ml), one need to calculate how much ml or tsp of the medicine is appropriate for the pediatric patient. There are many calculators out there to help you do that. The PediDoser is one of those calculators but it is very intuitive and quick. You can get your dose in no time.

PediDoser lists most commonly use drugs in pediatrics in alphabetical and categorical format. Once you find the drug you are looking for, select the formulation and then you can either select the age or Weight and you have your answer in no time (See the screenshots).

It is made by MeisterMed who has developed many other applications for iPhone or iPod touch.

MeisterMed has provided us some FREE Coupon code to get this app free. These are very limited in number. If you are interested, please email us for the code at contact@iphonemedicalinfo.com.
